            |  | Polymerization paths |
            | | In polymerization path information, the relations between product polymers
            and the raw materials, monomers, and/or polymers are shown.
 The polymerization path is defined by combining the raw material and the
            polymerization reaction classification, and can have two or more polymerization paths for one polymer by the difference between the raw materials and the polymerization reaction classification.

 In PoLyInfo, the relation between polymer and the raw material is registered
            as much as possible. When detailed information on the polymerization method
            etc. is not shown about polymer that adopts data, paths related to the
            monomer generally assumed is registered as a polymerization path.

            |  | Polymerization types |
            | | Polymers may be synthesized via polymerizations and/or polymer reactions. The reactions classification and the definition are as follows.

                  | Addition polymerization (chain reaction) Only the unsaturated bond reacts, and there is no elimination component.
 ex.) Vinyl acetate CH2=CH-OCOCH3 --> Polyvinyl acetate [-CH(OCOCH3)-CH2-]n
 |
                  | Ring-opening polymerization A polymerization with an ring-opening of the ring monomers without any
                  elimination component.
 ex.) Ethylene oxide --> polyethylene oxide [-O-CH2-CH2-]n
 |
                  | Polycondensation A polymerization with an elimination of a component.
 ex.) Diol HO-R-OH + dicarboxylic acid HOCO-Ar-COOH --> [-O-R-OCO-Ar-CO-]n
 |
                  | Polyaddition (addition but not chain reaction) A polymerization without elimination components other than the above-mentioned.
 ex.) Diol HO-R-OH + diisocyanate OCN-Ar-NCO -->
                  [-O-R-OCO-NH-Ar-NH-CO-]n
 |
                  | Polymer reaction A chemical reaction in which at least one of the reactants is a high-molar-mass substance.
 polymer reactant: A reactant that is a high-molar-mass linear polymer or a network.
 macro-monomer, telechelic polymer, prepolymer etc.
